Was He The One?
As cold as the wind blows,
As freely as the water flows,
I sit at the windowpane wondering did I ever get close?
Close to who I could be.
Be someone, who could set me free.
In the depths of the ocean,
Lies a secret,
A secret, only you knew
How far did you go
Until you found something new
Only to come back to me and say, “I’ve got it”
For the billionth time as you take another sip of your evening coffee
“And what about me?” I ask,
To which you sit staring at me as if I gave you a task
No I do not complain that you are gone now,
Gone too far for me to bring you back,
I’m afraid, it’s now all black.
Too dark for you to return home now
This storm, disappeared, I don’t know how
What I know for sure is that you
Have become a star in the galaxy,
The one who set me free,
My only companion, not enemy.
But now that I am still,
Sitting on the windowpane,
Gathering all our memories into one,
A bird chirps to me,
“Was he the one?”
The poem is written so beautifully, that i can imagine myself sitting on that windowpane that is being entertained by cold winds, and having those millions of thoughts. Thoughts that generally come when you sit with yourself and you start questioning to yourself only about what you never talk with anyone else. The poem is taking about being free while being with someone and now I can think how deep we talk to ourselves, when we know there is no one to judge on the other side we talk with heart.
The last para has again mentioned about sitting on the windowpane and that connects the whole poem in a loop and is telling the one writing this is walking through the memory lane while sitting on the windowpane.
