  • A Poem on Success

    You’ve got a goal you wish to claim,
    Yet the road ahead is rough and steep;
    You tremble with the thought of pain
    And shrink with fear before the leap.

    But remember that no goal was won
    Without the effort of the strong;
    That no great deed was ever done
    Save by those who faced the throng.

    So gather up your courage, lad,
    And face the foeman in the fight.
    Be strong of heart and brave of hand,
    And win the victory to-night.

    It matters not how great the odds,
    Or how you tremble with the fear,
    If you but keep your heart undaunted,
    You surely will succeed, my dear.

    So never falter, never shrink,
    But face the foeman in the ring;
    And if you fall, fall fighting still,
    And rise to fight again, my king.
