  • The Last Letter

I had never ever given it a thought
Even on the day the last flowers I bought,
A day I’ll have to leave all behind
I’ll only have some reminiscence to rewind,
The bowel of my inflated heart will cry
The smirking time will pretend to wry
Shattered remains of my past will catch my sight
Yes, on that day the last letter I will write.

The mesmerising dawn will take my breath
The shooting stars will show no regret
Family, friends that I thought I have earned
Will all leave me to go with no concern
My raising eyes will finally dry
The divine tears will kiss me goodbye
Intimidating air will consume my lungs
Yes, on that day the last letter I will write.

I will reluctantly believe that I deserve
To burn under the exasperating scrutiny of the universe
The silver light will cascade the panorama
I will be summoned to some merciless behest
Just like some live flesh in an abattoir
I will clamber upon the bridge
Ravenously engulfing darkness will pull me away from light
Yes, on that day the last letter I will write.
