    At the Florist

    Hush, I said
    to the lonely bed.
    A bed of flowers
    that seemed to have powers.

    As they blossomed
    my sister cautioned
    -take a step back
    was it an attack?

    She chuckled and said
-what ‘s going on in your head.
    They’re dandelions silly
but I was looking at the lilies.

Well of course it was hilarious
since I imagined something more ferocious.
Sitting next to the lilies was a pitcher plant
looking so exotic, it seemed to enchant.

What a dummy! I thought to myself
    as their enchantment slowly dispelled.
    They’re just flowers
    no way they’d have powers!

    A Mother’s Trust

    JUST TRUST ME!
For once can you put some faith in me
it’s not like I’m asking to be free.

    JUST TRUST ME!
Why do you doubt me so?
    it’s not like I’m your foe…

A day comes where a letter arrives
something that was meant as a surprise
from a friend who’s near and dear
    someone who is sincere.
But you were the one who opened the door that day
not a single word did you say
when I asked who it was, you lied
maybe that was when my love for you died.

You had many opportunities to tell me
well at least now I see
    how little you trust me
I wish you’d hear my plea
    Reading my letter
did it make you feel better?
    Going through my phone
    to me completely unbeknown
Like I’m not even one of your own
maybe it’s better to be alone.
I simply wish that you’d trust me already!

  • Pressure

    Pressure

It hurts to see her parents put so much pressure on her.
    but only if they knew…
Why is it that they don’t understand, something that they’ve already been through.
at least it wouldn’t be so painful if it was a stranger.

Can’t they bother to see her suffering.
the expectations they put on her too large for her to shoulder.
Few words of encouragement would be more than comforting.
but the moment she falls apart they get colder.

It feels like a huge boulder has placed itself on her.
not being able to move has made her shudder.
She looks in the mirror and makes a decision.
this time she’ll do everything with precision.

She wont leave room for error and will not stutter.
and on the day she earned her title
there was only one thing that broke- a cycle
Not a word were they able to utter.
