Silent Echoes

In a world of deception, where lies have found a home,
You did your share while having a stone heart.
You inquired as to how I was doing—broken and forlorn.
My tears were sincere, while your affection was torn.

I cried and prayed, fatigued and worn out,
But this cycle of misery could never be broken.
If you set me free, I’d bury your wrongdoings and start again,
Fulfilling my wants, breathing new life in the token.

Why focus on a love that can only lead to conflict?
I know I am deserving of a better and happier life.
I’ll abandon you, for you shared me like prey,
A nightmare of existence, each agonizing day.

I screamed, oh so loudly, but you didn’t hear:
“Doesn’t an ounce of shame penetrate your veneer?”
And yet, you continue to bring flowers, my favorites so precious,
To a grave where my spirit finds peace and cheer.
Let me rest in peace, for I’m already gone,
Yearning to be free of a life gone so wrong.

I’ll find release, an untold love,
And embrace a future when my spirit will blossom.
