BEAUTY

Oh, what a grief!
Of a cute little girl.
With blue nice eyes,
Hair with curls.

Nothing she has,
A poor little child.
She roams alone,
With a voice so mild.

One winter night,
Alone on a street.
Wearing torn shoes,
And ice-cold feet.

She was too small,
To bear her hunger.
She begged from all,
But she was fed with anger.

She felt very tired,
She slept in the dark.
Next day her body,
Was found from a park.

She died out of cold,
Her face was so pretty,
People thought her name,
Might be BEAUTY.

  1. The poem “Beauty” meticulously portrays the fight of a homeless little girl against cold and hunger. The first few lines describes her physical appearance and captures the essence of her beauty. She was blessed with beautiful blue eyes, curly hair and with a mild voice. But falling a victim to poverty, she was wearing torn shoes and couldn’t even afford proper shoes to protect herself against the cold. As a result, her feet went ice cold. As she begged for food, nobody cared, rather she became a pretty to people’s rage. Being tired and helpless, she fell asleep in a part. Suffering from cold, she has faced death. However, the day after as her body was found, the people who were angry at her as she begged for food had praised her beauty.

This poem depicts the pious and cruel nature of the society. It also portrays the battle of a child with the demons of poverty.
