The chosen road
June 17, 2023 in English Poetry
The other day I lied down next to her and as we saw the stars I asked if she thought we had different things written for us?
To this my twin replied-
For there are so many stars yet we see each twinkle differently
For every heart has its own blooming flowers
And for different eyes dream of things in ways unimaginable.
And oh, how each soul has its own light.
Yet we often stop to see if the grass really is greener on the other side as we walk down our aisle of life
For we were always taught about the road not taken but never about the different roads taken to a similar destination.
For you

For i always wondered how did we end up here?
The other day when I looked into your soft yet strongly placed eyes I could see the oceans that your soul carried with itself.
How could we really love each other?
For we aren’t a bit similar
You are the ice cold water that could quench the thirst of an entire desert
And i?
I am the little bonfire in a huge mansion trying to Light up a room.
You are a farm full of beaming sunflowers
And i?
I am the wet earth of the rains
We don’t really belong
Do we?
We are the cold winter days on which you can spot the sun and the moon together
Miles apart yet together.
We are the drenched, dancing sunflowers
Of the rains
And we are the bonfire in a little home in midst of citylights
For i realised we belong in ways earlier unknown to the little kid in me
For i know that i carry your heart with me now
And now when when i look into your eyes i can see MY SOUL carrying oceans with itself
For my soul now resides in you.
