I Ask

June 21, 2023 in English Poetry

Everywhere, everywhere, things come to an end
With this hand I reach out to you
I ask and I ask will you come to me again
We will try and start anew

You brightly smiled at me, on that fateful day
And I held onto that smile since
So here I ask and I ask to you once again
Why do you now so wince?

Today was a failure but we have tomorrow left
Must you give up on your dreams so soon?
Then I ask and I ask to wait a day again
But you say you’ll never find your tune.

The time ahead is full of hope and life is beautiful
You will find a better chance once more
Thus I ask and I ask let us think on this again
As we walk under the sun on this shore

Here and There

June 16, 2023 in English Poetry

The man sits at the window sill in the morning
As the early dew on the grass slightly shakes
A different man bleeds out crimson petals on the wasteland
When the chilling darkness retreats as dawn breaks.

The woman readies herself for the daily course of life
As she lifts her books to embark on a journey to learn
A different woman thwarted by the frontlines due to her body
Mourns and protests for the people sent off to burn.

The bird chirps and sings its morning melodies
As the trees lift their heads to greet the gentle sun
The crow tears and plucks from the decaying clutter
While the fiery grass takes the scarlet gift waiting for none.

The calm, the strife, two sides of the same coin
The greed, the sorrow, letting mankind waste away
As we write of the world known and unknown
Lamenting the day when all the dues we must come to pay.
