The Lost Me
June 23, 2023 in English Poetry
Stuck in a jostling crowd
But lonely I feel
As I search for the Me
whom I lost to them
There’s a smile on my face
But it isn’t mine
My feet are carrying me away
To a place unknown
My eyes are dry little lifeless orbs
My mind is blank, a silent void
I hear a voice suddenly
It’s distant and weak
My heart skips a beat as
I realize who it is
“Help me, please! I don’t wanna get lost!”
The voice, which is mine, is slowly dying out
My eyes are alive now, burning with a will
I break into a run, now I’ll find me.
