A Tribute to My Grandfather

June 19, 2023 in English Poetry

In fields of memories, my heart does roam,
A simple man, my grandfather, I had known.
With humble grace and garments plain,
He taught me lessons that forever remain.

His footsteps sturdy, his hands so kind,
A gentle spirit, rare to find.
In life’s grand tapestry, a selfless thread,
He tended to others, their wounds he’d mend.

With fishing poles and laughter’s sound,
Upon his back, in joy, I was found.
To the riverside, where dreams took flight,
He shared his wisdom, his guiding light.

In mango groves, where sweet fruit grew,
He plucked life’s treasures and shared them too.
In each morsel savored, love’s flavor swelled,
A taste of moments only memories held.

Through rugged paths and winding trails,
He walked with purpose, without ever fail.
His journey, simple, yet profound,
A testament to life’s joys he found.

Oh, how I yearn to see his smile,
To linger in his presence for a while.
But though he rests in nature’s embrace,
His spirit lingers, leaving traces.

A village man with a heart so vast,
His love for family forever shall last.
Though time has claimed his mortal form,
His legacy of love shall weather life’s storm.

So here’s to my grandfather, simple and true,
Forever in my heart, I’ll hold onto you.
In the echoes of laughter and stories untold,
Your spirit lives on, more precious than gold.
