Now or When

In the chaotic rush of chasing metros and seeking mates,
We find ourselves, seemingly similar, drawn to opposing fates.
Life, effortlessly renewing itself, with little heed to our strife,
Leaves us in a quandary, questioning change or mere shifts in sight.

Once, I saw shallowness lurking behind their every move,
Now circumstances unveil their self-effacing past, truths to prove.
Those who once embraced freedom, devoid of judgment’s sting,
Now stand as half-hollow beings, shattered, with broken skin.

As life, of late, treats me kind, or so my perspective shows,
Uncertain if it’s external fortune or a mindset that bestows.
Regardless, I ponder treating them well, regardless of fate’s vendetta,
For whether life turns a new hell or perspective darkens, I’ll be their shelter.

It’s now a matter of embracing the present, letting go of “how” and “when,”is
As the poet, Maink, muses on the essence of Now, time and again.
