modern love

In the realm of modern love, where screens illuminate our souls,
Where connections form through pixels, and emotions take their tolls,
We navigate the virtual sea, searching for a kindred heart,
In a world where swipes and likes become our chosen art.

We swipe left, we swipe right, in this digital display,
Hoping for a spark of love to ignite along the way,
But behind the filtered images, the perfect facade we see,
Do we truly find a love that’s real, or merely a fallacy?

We craft our profiles meticulously, presenting curated lives,
Seeking validation from strangers, yearning for affection that survives,
But in this realm of shallow depths, where masks conceal our truth,
Can we find the courage to be vulnerable, to let love take its root?

The messages we exchange, words floating in the ether,
Conversations filled with emojis, lacking the human touch we gather,
But amidst the emojis and abbreviations, a connection may arise,
A flicker of hope in this digital world, where love often disguises.

We navigate the pitfalls of ghosting, unanswered texts, and doubt,
Trying to decipher intentions from a screen’s limited clout,
Yet, in the midst of uncertainty, a glimmer of hope remains,
That beneath the surface of this modern love, true connection sustains.

For love is not confined to screens or virtual realms alone,
It transcends the boundaries of time and space, making itself known,
In the laughter shared over a video call or the warmth of a typed word,
Love weaves its threads through the digital space, where hearts are stirred.

So let us not dismiss this modern love, for it has its own allure,
In the moments of vulnerability, when authenticity ensures,
That beyond the selfies and status updates, love can still reside,
And in the realm of modern love, souls can truly coincide.

For in the end, love is love, whether digital or real,
It’s the connection we crave, the emotions we long to feel,
So let us embrace this modern love with open hearts and minds,
And remember, love knows no boundaries, transcending all confines.

  1. This is a beautiful poem written in free verse about the doubts and fears due to the changing world, where even the act of finding a partner has been digitalised. The poem captures the fears of being impersonal and of trying to be too perfect with our image that is being out out there, like how social media has been plaing out.
But all is not lost. Because humanity exists we are able to transcend space to make connections with people.
Digitalisation has brought us together, and we keep the spark alive, to make every interaction fee more personal and intimate. In words of the poet – “love knows no boundaries, transcending all confines.”
