Unfolding myself

I yearned to assume a different identity
Seeking acceptance from society’s conformity
I feigned laughter to hide my fragility
But in solitude, tears flowed unreservedly

I sought solace in being indifferent and free
Seeking kinship with those who resembled me
At times, adopting a false persona casually
Spending time with companions, though insincerely

Lost amidst meddling, my own happiness astray
The real me obscured, as days slipped away
Until I discovered you, my path did sway
You revealed my true self, leading me back home to stay

No longer seeking acceptance from society’s decree
Instead, finding self-acceptance, I am finally free
