Dear George

Dear George
Dear George, I will not lie
it has been quite hard,
to smile when I am pained
to hold up this facade.
Dear George, I will not lie
I wish I could save my heart,
for you cannot stay with me
and I cannot stay apart.
I have been in love with you
your heart, your soul, your eyes
it is a knife I stab myself with
when I’m in love with your mind.
I keep running towards you
you have been running away,
I keep stopping you
and you keep trying to escape.
I wish one of us would stop
I wish I could give up this wait,
of you loving me with all you are
of you willing to stay.
It is a love I do not know
a love I cannot explain,
a love I would die for
a love that gives me pain.
But you ache in places
that no doctor can heal,
your mind is a forest
none other could see.
Why would someone so beautiful
be gifted such a tragedy
and I am doomed to love a man
who cannot sustain me?
Dear George, I will not lie
my heart is just for you,
I can love enough for both of us
but is half a love just as true?
